Meet Ilnaurk Sithdogron

Ilnaurk Sithdogron is my EVE character.  Since "a picture is worth a thousand words," here you go.

I'm a Minmatar character, currently flying a Rupture cruiser and living around the system Orduin.  I generally fly a lot of PvE missions with some very occasional mining on the side.  I've gotten started with Level Two missions fairly recently, which has been a great learning experience for me.  I've also done some of the Epic Mission Arc missions.

I belong to Crunchy Crunchy of the Peregrine Nation alliance.  I know the alliance is somehow affiliated with the Coalition of Anti-Pirates, but I'm not entirely sure where or how.  My corp has provided me with a place full of people far more experienced than I who can share their knowledge with me when I feel lost, and has greatly sped up my initial bumblings through EVE.

Now for some of the things I am completely clueless about.  Note that this is only a list of things that I know I am clueless about; there's probably a lot of other stuff that I haven't even heard of.

  • Exploration.  I barely know how to work a scanner, and I've tried and failed to use probes on several occasions.
  • Planetary interaction.  I don't even really know what this does for someone.  I've just heard it exists.
  • PvP combat.  I know that it's very different from PvE and that it relies much more on high DPS than a steady tank that can take damage.  Other than that?  No idea.
  • Research and development.
  • Trading. Buy low, sell high is what economics tells me, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Well, that's me.  Rather boring, I know.

  1. Ilnaurk, my friend... welcome to New Eden. I'm happy you're taking such an initiative, and I want to let you know that I may be able to help you with clearing up some of these "clueless" areas of yours. In fact... if you go to my blog at http://thedoctor.t15.org, there's a bit of market stuff on there. In the future there will be PvP things, industrial things, etc. And if you follow the link to my YouTube page, I even have a video that will give you the basics on Planetary Interaction. Cheers, mate. Fly safe.

  2. Scanning:
did a quick youtube search, this seems like a good probing tutorial, he explains the quirks about scanning, as well as the basics of how to do it.

Only downside, he uses an 8 probe scan. 8 probes is best, but it takes time to get to that. 4 probes is the bare minimum number of probes you need to scan down a signature. The first 4 probes stay on the xy plane as he has them, after that go +z, -z, ++z, --z with your next 4 probes (if you only have six, +z, -z).

    PvP:

    2) www.club-bear.com , podcast section.
    3) go grab a ship and start PvPing. You will lose horribly, alot, but no one is mozart. We all suck at the start.

PI: it's mostly used to make POS (player owned starbase) fuels, though it can be used to make other stuff. It can generate about 200-300 million per month for someone operating 10 planets (that's 2 characters at least, a character can max out on 6). Youtube will again provide an old and dated, but still relevant PI tutorial.

Got me on the rest. Ima PvPer, got no idea bout that other stuff.

    1. Thanks very much for all of the info! Thankfully, my CEO has started holding small fleet roams through lowsec in Tech 1 ships like Ruptures and Rifters. I haven't had a chance to go on one yet, but it should help me learn.

PI is starting to make more sense to me know after I read the section about it in the Industrial Sized Knowledgebase.

I've seen the probing video before, but the PvP links were quite helpful. Thanks again!
